Why Radio Free Earth

This three-part series is the ideal starting point for newbies.  It offers a high-level view of how affordable consumer and amateur radios can be used to help avoid or to mitigate the heartbreaks of survival. This is why those who are in preparedness need to look beyond the narrow prism of government, commercial, and hobbyist needs with a survival communication strategy.

For those with a genuine interest in preparedness, this strategy must offer a clear path to organizing with like-minded others for greater security, self-sufficiency, hope for the future and the preservation of personal freedom. This is what Radio Free Earth is all about.

PART 1/3 – KEEPING FAMILIES CONNECTED

A collapse of the nation’s power grid will trigger a cascading series of infrastructure failures that will literally leave families in the dark. As the outages persist, the desire to connect with distant family members will become impossible, without two-way consumer and amateur radios.

PART 2/3 – KEEPING COMMUNITIES CONNECTED

At the outset of a global or national disaster, Federal resources will be quickly strained to the breaking point, leaving many communities with little or no assistance. Therefore, in a post-disaster situation, survivors will need to rely upon themselves. This is when faith-based and non-profit organizations will need to use sophisticated two-way amateur radios to organize local relief efforts.

PART 3/3 – CREATING A POST-DISASTER GLOBAL ALTERNET

Amateur and consumer two-way radios will play an essential role in helping communities to collaborate at far distances to help build an enlightened, a post-disaster world. A Star Trek future if you will, where technically-minded survivors can work with like-minded others at great distances, to create what author Marshall Masters, calls a post-Disaster Global Alternet.
